Meet Fr. Chris

Spiritual advisor & retreat chaplain

“Yet I will rejoice in the LORD

Fr. Christopher Shofner is a Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul–Minneapolis, originally from Nicholasville, Kentucky. He graduated from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, along with double minors in Chemistry and Mathematics, and began doctoral studies in Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota (no degree awarded). After a period of discernment, he entered The Saint Paul Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1999 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2005.

Following ordination, Fr. Shofner served briefly as Parochial Vicar at St. John the Baptist Church in Savage, Minnesota, before being appointed Pastor of St. Mary and St. Henry Churches in Le Center, Minnesota. In 2018, he became Pastor of St. Anne Church in Le Sueur, a rural Catholic community in south-central Minnesota of about 500 households, including a thriving Catholic School for grades PreK–5.

Fr. Shofner was first introduced to Inner Healing ministry through training at the John Paul II Healing Center in Tallahassee, Florida. He has also received formation and certification through Encounter Ministries and Metanoia Catholic Mindset Coaching, and has pursued pastor leadership training through Amazing Parish and Divine Renovation.

At the heart of his priesthood is a desire to help people encounter freedom and wholeness in Jesus Christ—especially through ministry focused on identity in Christ, forgiveness, surrender, and the formation of men, youth, and young adults.

Fr. Chris serves as the Spiritual Advisor for The Abundant Catholic and the Retreat Chaplain for the Rising Embers Men’s Mountain Retreat.

“Yet I will rejoice in the LORD and exult in my saving God. GOD, my Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet swift as those of deer and enables me to tread upon the heights.”
